Deception Ch14I could hear Tide whispering when I woke up. For a while I just lay there listening to her cute little girl voice and the story she whispered about five kids with wings. I wished that our story could end just as perfectly as it did when she told it, but I'd already learnt the harsh reality of our world and country.

As I felt her light breath on my ear I imagined what my life would be like if I could be the person little Tide whispered of. I tried to imagine going to school like a normal kid and what life could possibly be like if I hadn't been given wings. It just didn't work.

Without wings, how could I truly be me? That just wouldn't work.

Deception Ch13I have flickers of memories from that day, but nothing complete. I remember wailing sirens, bright overhead lights, someone putting an oxygen mask over my face. And I remember being absolutely terrified.

Some time later, I woke on my side on a hospital bed. I opened my eyes just a crack, and the fluorescent lights burned into my retina.

"Esis?"

I forced my eyes open and struggled to focus on the face in front of me, even though I knew who it was.

The smell…that antiseptic smell…

"I know." Xi spoke calmly. "Are you all right?"

Deception Ch12Jet lag really sucks. I wish I could have slept the whole trip like the hostess suggested, but of course I couldn't.

Tide and I spent two days trying to get over it, all the while flying back to the place where we had said goodbye to Xi, Indigo and Sun.

I could tell we were getting closer, but I wasn't entirely sure where they were.

I made an executive decision (because I couldn't exactly ask a four year old for advice) to circle over the general area until I saw Lana's house.

This is when someone tells me I have too much time. I made a fake chainmail fingerless glove/mitten out of coke can push tabs, with wire on the edges to keep them nice and neat. It's been a project that I haven't worked on much-it's just sort of sat there, but I decided I was going to finish it over my summer break.

Unfortunately, if you don't wear a normal glove underneath it you end up with a series of long cuts down your arm-as I found out. Next up, chainmail vest! (next summer)

how do you link them together like that? im going to start a costume made of coke tabs in the summer if i can, but i dont know how to join them like that TnT

You have to split one end with a pair of wire cutters, it's a bit of a pain for the first few rows to get them to join properly. I ends up looking something like this. [link]

Eu. It must have been a pain in the booty to make the glove QnQ do they stay pretty well or do you have to melt the ends back together?

They stay together most of the time as long as you bend them back properly. Most of the time they bend easily because it's aluminium but I used a crimper to make the cut bits stay together better.

Heheh, I've been keeping a ring-pull collection for years...no reason. Hmm...If I get a little more...I'll cut myself a lot trying to work out how the heck to do that.

It works best to make a cut in the top of the ring pull, and bend them in the middle. You also need a lot of patience.
